  1. What is the difference between a steel and a wooden door?

Steel doors offer a modern, industrial look and are durable and low-maintenance. Wooden doors radiate warmth and timeless elegance, with many possibilities for finishing and personalization.

  1. Are the doors suitable for both new construction and renovation?

Absolutely! Our doors are designed to fit seamlessly into both new construction projects and renovations.

  1. Do you also offer custom work?

Yes, we are happy to make custom doors so that they fit perfectly with your wishes and interior. Please contact us via the contact page!

  1. What are the delivery times? How long does it take to deliver a door?

Delivery time varies per door type, but on average it takes 6 to 10 weeks, depending on the door type and any customization options.

  1. Can I view the doors in real life somewhere?

We are currently working on a showroom. On our website we have clear pictures of our doors, so you know exactly what you are buying. Would you rather see the doors in real life? Please contact us to discuss the possibilities or to see examples!


About materials and quality

  1. What type of wood are the wooden doors made of?

We use high-quality types of wood such as oak, pine or MDF, depending on your preference and the desired look.

  1. Are the steel doors rust resistant?

Yes, our steel doors are treated with a protective coating, making them rust-resistant and durable.

  1. Do the doors come with glass and if so what type of glass do you use?

Our doors can be supplied with clear, matt or smoked glass, depending on your preference.

  1. How sustainable are the materials you use?

Both the steel and the wood we use are of high-quality, sustainable quality, with attention to environmental friendliness.

  1. Are the doors sound and heat insulating?

Our doors are designed with insulation in mind. Especially doors with glass and tight-fitting frames provide excellent insulation against noise and heat loss.

11.   Is my door also suitable for outdoor use?

No, the doors we sell are only suitable for indoor use.


Installation and maintenance

12.   Can you also help with installing the doors?

No, we do not offer an installation service. In order to keep our steel and wooden doors affordable and accessible, we have chosen to focus on delivering high-quality products. Of course, we are happy to provide you with clear installation instructions and tips to make the installation run smoothly! 13.   Which direction of rotation do I need?

The direction of rotation is determined by the direction the door swings when you stand in front of the door and pull the door towards you to open it.

If you pull the door towards you and the handle/latch is on the left and the hinges are on the right, then it is a right-handed door.

If the handle is on the right and the hinges on the left, then the door turns left.

14.   Can I install a sliding door on any interior wall?

You cannot place a sliding door on a plasterboard wall (due to the weight of the door and the hanging system). Placing a sliding door on Ytong plaster blocks is only possible if the blocks are 10 cm or thicker, the use of special plaster screws and plugs is then a requirement.

15.   Does my door have a sliding door system?

The rail system is supplied as standard with the steel and wooden sliding doors that we sell.

16.   How do I determine the dimensions of my door?

Wooden sliding doors

Measure the opening after plastering and allow for an overlap of 5cm on the left, 5cm on the right and 5cm above (at least 10cm wider than the opening and at least 5cm higher than the opening).

Steel sliding doors

Measure the opening after plastering and allow for an overlap of 2.5 cm on the left, 2.5 cm on the right and 3 cm above (at least 5 cm wider than the opening and at least 3 cm higher than the opening).

Steel hinged doors

Measure the width of the opening after plastering (rebate width) minus 2 mm = this is the width size you need to order.

Measure the height of the opening after plastering (rebate width) minus 2 mm = this is the height measurement you need to order.

17.   What is required for the maintenance of a steel or wooden door?

Steel doors require minimal maintenance; a damp cloth is usually sufficient. Wooden doors may require periodic maintenance treatment, depending on the finish.

18.   Are the doors easy to install yourself?

Every door we supply comes with installation instructions. Many of our doors are easy to install yourself, but for larger or more complex doors we recommend professional installation.

19.   Can the doors be adapted to an existing frame size?

Yes, we can make custom doors to fit perfectly into your existing frames. Please contact us via the contact page on our website.

20.   Do you offer post installation service?

Sure! If there is a problem after installation, we are here for you and we are happy to think along.

21.   Do I have a warranty on my products?

Yes, we offer a 1 year factory warranty on all steel and wooden hinged and sliding doors.


About prices and delivery

22.   How much does it cost to make a custom door?

This depends on the design, materials and dimensions. Contact us for a personal quote.

23.   Do you charge shipping costs and if so, how much are they?

Yes, we charge delivery costs. These are €59.99 within the Netherlands. For deliveries in Belgium, the delivery costs are on average between €75 and €150, depending on the distance and size of the order.

24.   Are there discounts available when ordering multiple doors?

For larger orders we often offer a discount. Contact us for more information.

25.   Which regions do you deliver to?

We deliver throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. Other regions/countries on request.

26.   Is it possible to pick up my order myself?

If you want to pick up an order in our warehouse in Koekange (Drenthe) you must first make a telephone appointment so that we can prepare the product. This is only possible by appointment.


About style and personalization

27.   Can you advise me on which door would best suit my interior?

Yes, we offer personal interior design advice to ensure you choose the perfect door.

28.   Do you have any inspiration or examples from previous projects?

Sure! Check out our website or Instagram page for examples and inspiration.


Returns/unforeseen situations

29.   Can I return my door?

Yes, that is possible, provided it concerns an undamaged standard size door. However, we must charge 125,- euro return/exchange costs for this. In this case, please contact our customer service. 

30.   Can I return a custom door?

No, unfortunately this is not possible unless there is serious damage or manufacturing defects.

We refer to article 15 of our General Terms and Conditions:

A custom door cannot be cancelled once it has been put into production. The dimensions can also no longer be adjusted. In production indicates the time that we have ordered the custom door from our foreign producer.

The customer must measure the doors themselves. We strictly adhere to the dimensions specified by the customer and cannot be held liable for incorrect measurements. The risk of this therefore always lies with the customer.

A custom door cannot be returned after delivery, nor can a financial refund be made.

If doors are not installed according to our installation instructions, the door warranty will be void.

If there is a production error in the door that requires it to be removed, we cannot be held liable for any additional costs that may arise. Think of damage to the wall (plasterwork) or contractor costs. The door must always be removed and replaced including the frame.

If your door was delivered by our carrier, you should check it for any errors or damage. You have three days to report damage to us by email. Damage can only be reported if the door is still in its original packaging and has not yet been assembled. If we have not received any damage notification after 3 days, we will assume that the door(s) have been received in good condition.

31.   My door is damaged, what now?

Unexpectedly, damage to the door after delivery? Please contact us by email (info@staut.nl) and take photos/videos of the damage. We will then assess these and come up with a proposal for a solution.
